Maybe, a wire broke where the cable goes into the nine-pin "socket." 2. But more likely, it's a problem with the computer's "plug." Plugging/unplugging puts a lot of stress on those plugs and their connection to the computer's motherboard. After awhile, the solder joints might work loose. Sometimes, "jiggling" or tapping the socket (while it's plugged in), or doing other things such as moving the case, can "rejoin" those contacts, but heating/cooling and vibration eventually will "break" them, again. The pins which come out of the back of the plug must be resolderred to the motherboard (both sides of the board, I assume). 1351-style mice convey their position through high-frequency PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation) which must be syncronized between the SID and the mouse. Therefore, it's much more vunerable to lousy connections than are buttons and joysticks. _________________________________________________________________ Email a Friend Sponsored by: Audio Book Club [USEMAP] previous · post reply · next help Complimentary Resources for Developers.
