I don't have the circuit in front of me, but since the 2N3904 and 2N3906 have always been my favorite transistors for such applications, I am sure that those are the ones that I used. They come in TO-92 plastic packages. With the leads pointing toward you, and the flat part of the transistor on the top, from left to right, Emitter, Base, Collector.
