If you are a Commodore user, or use Lynx as your Web browser, we suggest downloading the file, ".mime.types" and placing it in your home directory online. It will help Lynx to determine Commodore file types and allow you to download them correctly. You will need to re-start Lynx for it to take effect. Note: some Lynx configurations don't show the file named ".mime.types" when viewing the directory. In this case, download the file "mime.types", but rename it to ".mime.types" when you save it to your home directory. Lynx may not let you save "dot files" (especially if it won't let you view them), so you will need to rename the file once you've exited Lynx. To do this, on the command line, type: cp mime.types .mime.types If you're using another web browser, such as MSIE or Netscape, right-click over the filename (or shift + right-click) and choose "save as" in order to ensure the file is downloaded as a binary file. A better alternative to this is to define common Commodore file suffixes (such as .sfx or .prg) as application/octet-stream or executable files within your browser (applications/helpers). For MSIE v4 define the Commodore SFX files from the desktop Explorer: View/Folder Options/File Types - select New Type Use the mime.types file available in this directory to help you add the Commodore file suffixes used on this FTP site.
