I naturally defer to your superior expertise. :) -Another good reason not to go down to 200 rpm is the wobble factor. At 300 rpm, the disk surface should be reasonably level, and the distance between the head and the surface should not vary appreciably; if one goes way, way slower --- say, half speed, or 150 rpm, the surface of the disk is going to be going up and down, sometimes coming in contact (???) with the r/w head, and we sure don't want that to happen; if there is any air- braking (?) at 300 rpm, it is going to be half (quarter?) as good at 150 rpm... -- _________________________________________________________________ view for bookmarking text only mail this message to a friend Sponsored by ComputerLiteracy.com post reply << prev · next >> subscribe to comp.sys.cbm SPONSORED LINKS Yellow Pages · Compare hardware prices! · 5¢ long distance AutoConnect · Free Stuff · Trade with Datek · GET IT NOW @ NECX FREE downloads! · <> · Auctions & Classifieds Home · Communities · My Deja News · Power Search · Post About Deja News · Ad Info · Our Advertisers ____________________________________________________ Copyright © 1995-99 Deja News, Inc.
