As a two-way messaging service available for the HP OmniGo 100 organizer, WyndMAIL provides subscribers with flexible wireless applications to increase communications options while mobile. WyndMAIL allows HP OmniGo 100 handheld organizer users to transmit and receive messages anytime, anywhere. The service provides nationwide coverage without roaming charges, long distance fees, or cellular phone expenses.
"With WyndMAIL, users can add even more power to their HP OmniGo 100 organizer with two-way wireless communications," says Dan Luis, general manager, Wynd Communications Corp. "Wynd enables the HP OmniGo 100 organizer to become a communications tool giving users the power to actively control the sending and receiving of information."
"The flexibility of the GEOS operating system allows users to easily, intuitively and affordably use the HP OmniGo 100 organizer for a wide variety of mobile applications, including communications via WyndMAIL," says Gordon Mayer, president and CEO of Geoworks. "GEOS and WyndMAIL provide the communications capabilities that are essential to mobile professionals."
"We have partnered with leaders in a variety of computing industries to develop the HP OmniGo 100 handheld organizer," says Kheng Joo Khaw, general manager of HP's Asia Pacific PC Division. "By selecting leading technology developers such as Geoworks and Wynd, we have made the HP OmniGo 100 organizer the most approachable and flexible personal device available today."
Users can activate the WyndMAIL wireless messaging application by simply tapping the WyndMAIL icon, making transmission of spreadsheet, database, and word-processing information only a pen touch away. Also, since all GEOS information is integrated throughout the HP OmniGo 100 organizer, users can access the HP OmniGo 100 organizer's address book to send wireless messages without having to repeatedly type out long mailbox addresses.
A specially developed type II PCMCIA card, sold separately, supplies the connection to WyndMAIL software, and ensures high-quality transmission of wireless messages. The new standard-sized type II card includes an extension with a removable antenna and a battery booster that works with any standard NiCad or alkaline nine volt battery. The entire HP OmniGo 100 organizer's wireless communication system weighs a mere 5-1/2 ounces.
