80COL-PATCH


Speed-up patch for the 80columns program archived in funet


 I have tried the 80columns program and found that it suffers when scrolling.
So I coded this little patch. It uses an unrolled scroller and scrolls one
screen of data in 73ms. This speed corresponds to 13.6 lines per second.

 To implement this patch, first load and run the 80columns program. After it
swithces to the new screen, load '80col-patch' program, after execution of the
patch-installer you'll see an information and status message. Now, if the 
installation is successful you gained about 40% faster scrolls.
